KS4 Curriculum

 

The KS4 offer includes subjects taught at GCSE level and Btec Level.

We deliver a program of vocational options for Year 10 and 11 in conjunction with Hertford Regional College twice a week. Year 10 can opt into Level 1 Hair & Beauty and Motor Mechanics on a Tuesday and Year 11 have the options of Level 1 Hospitality or Performing Arts.

Our Core Curriculum in Year 10 consists of

Maths GCSE Edexcel

 

There are 3 pathways of study on offer to Year 10.

Route A is a more traditional pathway of study which includes studying Science (Edexcel-IGCSE).

Route B includes studying ECDL (European Driving Licence).

Route C offers Home Cooking Skills (Btec Level1/2-Edexcel)

Year 10 have options from which they choose 2 of the following:

Performing Arts (Btec Level1/2-Edexcel),

Art (GCSE- AQA)

PE (Btec Level1/2-Edexcel)

 

 

 

Our Core Curriculum in Year 11 consists of

Students can choose two 2 options

Business (Btec Level1/2 –Edexcel)

PE (Btec-Level1/2-Edexecel)

Art (GCSE-AQA).

They attend HRC or those studying PE will attend various provisions gaining skills based courses going towards their Btec qualification.

Students who are unable to access the GCSE/Btec curriculum will be offered Functional Skills or Btec qualifications at Entry Level 3/Level1.

 

Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education (PSHE)

Tutor time is a compulsory and structured program at Orchardside. The time is used for a number of different purposes including a literacy focus and a reflective session where students can reflect on their behaviours.    The PSHE curriculum is delivered twice weekly during this time and is enhanced with weekly themed assemblies.

Every Friday we have an extra whole school assembly to celebrate our successes and achievements.
